First, we find out the FW version in the reader using the following code:

On the Honeywel website, find the current version of the FW for the reader and download the FW.

For wireless readers like 1472g there will be 2 versions of FW, one for the reader and one for the base.

FW for 1472g (the versions listed may no longer be current)

FK000221BAA.smoc - reader

GK000083BAA.moc - base

First upload the FW for the reader and then after successful upload for the base (cradle).

SMU (Scanner Management Utility)

Use the SMU (Scanner Management Utility) to play the FW. Also available for download at http://hsmftp.honeywell.com/

The condition for the playback is to switch the scanner to the serial port interface, either RS232 or USB VCOM.

To create a virtual serial port you will need to install the VCOM driver.

A prerequisite for successful playback of wireless readers is to power the base cradle with an external power supply.

For example, unzip the utility into a folder:

c:\smu

Into this folder we also copy the FW files (FK000221BAA.smoc ). Here we create a BAT file which will contain:

smu.exe /upg FK000221BAA.smoc /port 25 /loglevel 4

In the port parameter, enter the serial port number of the reader, which can be found in the device manager. In the example, the number 25.

Start uploading the FW by tapping (running) the BAT file. The playback takes a few minutes and do not disconnect the device until the reader starts again.
